Jackie Yates

“ I was born and raised in Nacogdoches county.  To local folks, I am a BIN.  That stands for Born in Nacogdoches.   When I was younger I never imagined I would stay in Nacogdoches County.  However, after graduating from college and moving to Dallas with six- month-old twin boys for six months, I discovered a smaller county had many advantages which I had not previously discovered!

Sandy Yates and I have been married for over 40 years and we have four sons.  They are all in the ministry and serving God.  They are married to wonderful ladies we love like daughters.  We have six grandchildren who keep us young!

Loving God and serving Him has been a wonderful journey.  Answering the call to pastoral ministry has produced within me personal satisfaction that defies description.  While each day has its distinct challenges, each day produces the potential to glorify God.  I believe that we all are made by God with unique gifts, talents, abilities, experiences, education, and other qualities that provide us with the awesome potential to glorify God and, in doing so, reach a peace that is out of this world!

The true Church is an incredible institution whereby Christians can come together, worship, and serve God in unity.  The Church is a place where peace can be discovered in the midst of personal storms.  The Church is the place where Christ is the head and the people follow Him.  The Church   provides Christians with opportunities where they can grow spiritually as they are discipled.  The Church provides children with Biblical truths that can last a lifetime.  The Church is the instrument that is commanded to tell others about the Good News that Jesus saves.  And the local Church is where others know that we are Jesus’ disciples by the love we have for one another and those outside the Church.  This describes Westside MBC.  I love to call it my Church home.  I hope you will consider calling it your Church home!”
